Every Christian's Vote Count

A Message for Believers

"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?" - II Corinthians 6:14

This is one of the most important election years in the history of our Nation, the United States of America . The Presidential election could not be any closer at this time. I am sure that there are many close elections at all levels and they will all be determined by one extremely important point, and that is who is doing the voting. If you are a Christian and of voting age, then you must register and vote in every election. Voting is not an option for a Christian.

Our Nation was established by Christian men and women. Of the 55 signers of the Declaration of Independence, 53 were Christians. The laws of our Nation are based on the Bible and the Ten Commandments in particular. Our Nation is a Republic with Democratic rule. In other words our Nation is based on Laws that are decided on by the majority not the minority. However, when the majority does not vote, then the minority will establish their values, morality, thoughts, desires, and beliefs for the majority.

I believe that the majority of voters in our Nation are Christians, approximately 70%. However, just because people say they are Christians doesn't mean that their vote will necessarily be for candidates with Christian values, morality, thoughts, desires, and beliefs. We (Christians) have been too busy trying to look like the world and act like the world that we have become confused in what we actually believe. We have taken a back seat and allowed the minority to have their way and promote their agenda from the local level to the highest levels of government.

Since our Nation is based on Laws of the people, by the people, and for the people (the majority), then why aren't Christian values, morality, thoughts, desires, and beliefs the prevailing basis of the Law today? How could minority interest groups of less than 2% of the National population dominate the legal agenda today? Even more importantly, why aren't Christians doing something about it? I think I know some of the reasons:

• Laziness, complacency, and fear of the legal system has paralyzed our faith and caused us to compromise our beliefs.

• We have been told and now believe that politics is not a place for Christians.

• We have been duped by the enemy into believing that it is not God's will for us to stand up and fight for our rights.

• We have been so worried about our tax exempt status that we have forgotten that God is our source and not the government.

•We have allowed the world to judge us as Christians based on their worldly interpretation of sin and what a Christian should say do and be.

1. This is so absurd because sin is what they DO and sin is all they know. The world does not know Jesus, but they think they understand Christianity, ridiculous.

• We have been duped into believing that our hatred for any and all sin is hatred for people.

1. God hates sin, period; and so should we.

2. We have bought into the enemy's lie that identifies people with the names of their sins; such as, murders, homosexuals, liars, thieves. These terms describe the sins that people commit, not the people.

3. People commit these sins, but it is important to recognize that the people are not the sin.

4. We hate the sin, but we are commanded to love all people regardless of their sin.

5. We are commanded not to judge sinners, God will judge them.

• We have begun to believe that love and lust are the same thing. The world calls their sexual attraction for each other love. It is based on their feeeeeeeelings and emooooooootions. However, as Christians we know what the Lord says in I Corinthians 13 about love. We should know that just because it feels good, that it does not make it right or not sinful.

1. If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and thereby, have a Relationships with the Holy Spirit, then how could you possibly have love in your heart? (Romans 5:5)

2. We have ignored the fact that love is of the spirit/heart and lust is of the flesh/mind. The physical desire for someone is not love and never will be because it is lust (sin) if the desire is fulfilled as a sexual act.

3. We have decided to forget that sex outside of marriage is a sin, no matter who you are; and homosexual acts are an abomination in the eyes of God.

• We keep waiting for someone else to change the system and the world, but who is going to do it in the name of Jesus, no one but a Christian. 1. Most Christians are embarrassed and convicted by their own lifestyle of sin, therefore, look the other way when others are living in sin. • Christians think it is okay to be drunks, drug addicts, in poverty, into pornography, living with someone of the opposite sex and having a sexual Relationships, gamble away the family income, use foul language, abuse their spouse, commit adultery because they are adults and they both agree to the adultery, abuse their children; they also think it okay to lie, cheat, steal, and even murder (abortion) as long as you do not get caught, and sin on and on and on, as long as no one complains. This brings us back to the point of this message. Every Christian's vote counts when it is cast in the light of Christian values as stated in the Bible. How can you claim to be a Christian and vote for an abortion, same sex marriage, or legal unions of unmarried couples, just to name a few. I know that some people will say it is a Party thing. You know a Democrat or a Republican, or an Independent Party thing. You have to vote your party line in order to be a member. I guess it comes down to what is it you want to be a member of? Life's decisions are always choices. God made it simple for us by writing it all down in one book so we could find the answers and make the right choices. The problem is you have to read the book and pray for understanding. Unfortunately, the vast majority of Christians have NEVER read the entire New Testament, let alone the entire Bible.

I remember a man getting upset with me because I would not march in protest against the homosexual day parade. Christians do not protest, we pray and fast and pray some more in order to see God move on a situation. There were people protesting the homosexual day parade who were living with someone of the opposite sex. They were in sin themselves, but didn't see anything wrong with their life. Of course, the world calls us on these things. We cannot point to their sin while we are living out ours. I am not talking about perfection because there isn't such a thing, but I am talking about pursuing excellence and holiness in the name of the Lord.

• The Bible tells us "not to be unequally yoke together with a non-believer" and that means by our vote. If you are voting for someone who supports sin, then you are also a supporter for that sin. The Bible says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap" Galatians 6:7. You can call it voting along party lines, but it is sin also.

If your candidate supports same sex marriage and God says the sin of homosexuality is an Abomination in His eyes, then you are supporting sin. ("I am the Lord. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination ." Leviticus 18:22 ;), ( "men, leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind to do those things which are not fitting," Romans 1:27-28)

If your candidate supports abortion and God says it is murder to kill an unborn child, then you are supporting sin also. Abortion is what baby murderers use for birth control. When you sin, death is assigned to you, and it will surely come in due season.

If you support sinners, then the sin will also be accounted to you. God will see you as baby murderer and proponent of homosexuality. You will suffer the same consequences because you also responsible for these sins. Just because you are faithful in other things, just remember Matthew 7:21-23, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

• Ecclesiastes 8:11 says," ? Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil."

• James 1:15 says , "when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin when it is full-grown, brings forth death."

•Deuteronomy 30:19 says, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life…"

If you are a Christian, then behave like a Christian and live like a Christian. It is not about what Party you belong to, but about the Lord you serve. You cannot serve two masters, Luke 16:13, "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." Who do you serve? God's desire for us is to obey Him, so that He may bless us with all His might.

Your vote does count. If every eligible Christian votes, then the majority will rule as our system of government has been set up to do. We, as Christians, can then stop all the complaining about the crazy laws, the destruction of family, and all the evil in politics because we will be the politicians, law makers, and judges. This is the time to stand up and be heard as a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ. There is no middle ground with the Lord. There is no fence to walk on. Obey the Lord and you will know what to do by His written Word. Choose life by your vote and how you live. Together, let us turn the eyes and heart of our Nation back to the Lord.

Praise the Lord!
